COVID-19 Booking Policy

This policy only applies to bookings affected by a legitimate COVID-19 related condition, and will remain in place until no further COVID-19 related conditions apply. Should your cancellation not be COVID-19 related our standard cancellation will apply. Refer to point 2 below for clarification as to what constitutes a COVID-19 qualifying condition.

  • A deposit of 30% of the total value of the booking will confirm your booking.
  • A booking which is cancelled due to a COVID-19 qualifying condition is fully refundable if cancelled within 14 days prior to arrival.
  • Refunds will be made in South African Rand (ZAR) less a R500.00 admin fee.

This COVID-19 policy will apply if any of the conditions listed below come into effect within a period of 14 days of a guest’s intended arrival, and will apply if the said conditions affects a guest’s travel itinerary.

Qualifying COVID-19 conditions:

  • The government in the guest’s country of residence restricts travel, which has a direct causal impact on the guest’s travel plans.
  • Travel restrictions on the destination/s are imposed by the guest’s country of residence.
  • South Africa falls under official government sanctioned lockdown.
  • South Africa closes its borders to all international travellers, or to travellers from the guest’s country of residence.
  • International flights are cancelled, with no alternative routing available to reach South Africa.
  • A mandatory quarantine period is imposed by South Africa, or on return to the guest’s country of residence.
  • The guest’s country of residence has imposed a COVID-19 related travel advisory.
  • If the guest has contracted COVID-19 and is in quarantine or under medical treatment 14 days prior to travel. In such a case, supportive documentation will be required.

Cancellation due to fear of contracting COVID-19 or the prevalence of comorbidities will not constitute legitimate grounds for waiver of cancellation fees. Neither will choosing not to be vaccinated.

Should the qualifying criteria listed above not be present, The Trevoyan Guesthouse’s standard Cancellation Terms and Conditions will apply.

Vaccination requirements imposed by country of residence or destination do not qualify as a COVID qualifying condition for cancellation.

COVID-19 Protocols

At The Trevoyan Guesthouse, the health and safety of our guests and team members remains our highest priority. In challenging times such as these we believe that coming together as a business to help fight the spread of coronavirus is our only viable choice.

The spread of COVID-19 is a crisis that cannot be taken lightly. We extend our utmost sympathy and support to those affected during this challenging time and hope for a speedy resolution to the situation.

We are also hopeful that both resilience and proactive measures will aid in getting the pandemic firmly under control on a global scale. At The Trevoyan, we believe that this starts at home.

Hygiene has always been an extremely high priority at our property. In response to our current circumstances, even more stringent hygiene standards are being formally enforced. Daily inspections are ongoing, in order to ensure that standards are maintained, and we have taken several additional measures, developed in consultation with public health authorities:

  • Our housekeeping team is receiving ongoing enhanced operating protocols.
  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning our public areas including the breakfast room, lounge, our hire vehicle and door handles.
  • We have increased the deployment of antibacterial hand sanitisers across the property.
  • All staff have been instructed to maintain rigorous hand hygiene and to minimise physical contact wherever possible.
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been implemented in guest rooms, both before and after occupation, with special attention paid to high-contact items.
  • Back of house spaces occupied by staff – such as kitchens, offices and break areas – are equipped with instructional material to keep staff aware of hygiene protocols, and more rigorous cleaning schedules are in place.
  • Consultation with the public health authorities is an ongoing process. As The Trevoyan team receives more pertinent information, we will readily keep all associates and guests updated on any new developments or measures we put into place in order to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The team have been prepared to act swiftly should we be alerted to a suspected case of coronavirus at our property. Should you not feel well or suspect that you are at risk, please do not go to the public areas. Please call the duty managers and they will, in turn, get a health practitioner to contact you. The Trevoyan, remains committed to offering you and our team peace of mind that we are being proactive in minimising risks in these difficult times.

At The Trevoyan, we will continue to operate in the best interests of wellbeing for our guests and staff. We are confident that by coming together to face this health crisis, we can get the situation under control and maintain stringent hygiene at all our properties – now and for the foreseeable future.

Kind Regards
Dominique & Charles
